Your heavy eye lids were just about to close when suddenly, your phone started to ring. You muttered a few select curses under your breath as you began to walk-crawl to where your phone was ringing. You fumbled around a bit and then peered at it to see who was calling.
It was Alfred. You sighed, wondering if he was calling because he was having nightmares or something. You flipped open your phone and said in a flat voice, “What do you want?”
“Hey dudette! Hope I didn’t wake you up!” you heard him, chipper as ever.
“…..” you couldn’t think of anything nice to say.
“Oh.. geez, sorry, dudette… but there’s something I wanted to show you!” he said. You could almost feel his excitement burst through the phone.
“…Look, Alfie, it’s 1:35 a.m. in the morning, I’m tired, and I have to work tomorrow. Can’t this wait?” you told him as you tried your best to stifle a yawn.
“But.. but..!!” you heard him protest.
“Where are you Alfie?” you asked him wearily.
“…I’m outside of your house…”
“WHAT?” you woke up. You walked over to your blinds and peeked through them. Sure enough, he was there. “What in the world… Alfred, why are you here?” you asked him.
“Just come outside!” he insisted.
“This better be good…” you mumbled.
“It will! Just hurry!”
You hung up on him and sighed as you sleepily walked outside. You didn’t bother to change out of your pajamas and slipped on some slippers.
Alfred ran to you and engulfed you in a big bear hug. In spite of being a bit grumpy that he woke you up at such an ungodly hour, you couldn’t help but smile at his goofiness. “What is this amazing thing that you wanted me to see?” you gruffly asked him.
“Hey, it’s starting, hurry, look!” he said as he turned you around and pointed up at the sky.
“…Woahh...” the sky was filled with tiny streaks of light. There were falling stars- hundreds, it seemed- and it was a sight to behold. Your teeth began to chatter a bit as you were only in shorts and a t-shirt, and to your surprise, Alfred covered you with half of his jacket and you smiled briefly at him and you both turned back to look at the stars.
“Alfred, you should make a wish!” you whispered to him, as you watched a few more stars
streak across the sky.
“Nah.. there’s no need,” he said. You turned around to see him smiling at you.
“Why not?” you asked him, curious.
He blushed a bit, and said, “Because it already came true.” <3
